2001 <br>Rioja <br>Magister Bibendi <br>Navarrsotillo Made from a special selection of older vines and matured in american and french oak for 4-6 mos, this wine displays deep cherry hues with hints of burgundy. A complex aroma of red fruits with a bit of licorice influence from oak aging, it is excellent and smooth on the palate. A more serious red than the younger and simpler Noemus from this pioneer organic winery in Rioja. Spain deserves some recognition for a long tradition of heart warming wines now elaborated in high tech facilities. The result is convincing.
