Crozes Hermitage
Jacques Frelin
This wine is not to be missed! A wonderful Syrah from the area of Tain l’Hermitage in the Rhône Valley, south of Lyon. Syrah grapes from six different organic vineyards were blended by Jacques to produce a wine of depth and power that will age gracefully for five to ten years. The wine was aged eight months in new oak barrels and lightly filtered before bottling.
Jacques Frelin is a central figure in French organic viticulture. He is the CEO of Terroirs Vivants, the largest organic wine merchant in France. His wines are consistently of high quality.
This is a hugely impressive Crozes Hermitage. A good solid Syrah with rustic simplicity. The luscious aromatics of this wine linger on and on. Its smokey, black fruit flavors have the liqueur-like sweetness of chocolate covered cherries.
AOC Crozes Hermitage; 100% Syrah.

Pierre André -- Pierre André and his daughter continue a family tradition of producing powerful red wines from their thirty six acres of vines in Courthezon, between Orange and Avignon in southern France. Organic agriculture is another tradition in this family, who began using these methods in 1963 and converted fully in 1980. They have also practiced biodynamic viticulture, and have been certified biodynamic by Demeter since 1990. Wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape are made from a blend of up to thirteen grape varieties. The André wine blends major elements of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre with smaller amounts of Cinsault, Counoise, Picpoul, and Muscardin. Their vines average 60 years old with some parcels exceeding 100 years! Diverse soil types and a southern exposure give these vines excellent conditions for production of balanced, healthy wines that will develop for many years after the harvest. The 2000 vintage invites you to travel through layers upon layers of gustatory revelations. Chianti Classico Riserva
Casina di Cornia -- Casina di Cornia is a small estate situated in the heart of the Tuscan hills of Italy. The vineyards exposed to the southwest are planted with the grape varieties of the Chianti: Sangiovese & Canaiolo for the red wine, and Trebbiano & Malvasia for the white.Since 1980, the estate has been cultivated according to the methods of organic agriculture. In order for the wine to maintain its genuine quality and perfume, intervention on the grapes and wine are kept to a minimum. This begins with a pruning policy which reduces the average yield to just 50hl/hectare. During harvest, in order to avoid bruising the fruit, grapes are collected by hand in small crates. In the cellar, the vinification is conducted with accurate control of temperature and oxidation. For the past 12 years, Casina di Cornia has been a member ECOCERT, an independent organic certification agency. In addition, the estate co-founded “Coordinamento Toscano Produttori Biologici,” an Italian cooperative of organic wine . . .

Chateau Bousquette
Cuvée Prestige -- The vineyards of Château Bousquette, a 50 acre family estate, drape over the craggy hillsides of a small town called Cessenon, only 30 miles inland from the Mediterranean in the South of France. "Bousquette" (pronounced boo-sket) in French means thicket or grove. The word aptly describes the property: a simple family estate nestled in pine trees, lavender and thyme, overlooking miles of vineyards stretching all the way to the foot of the volcanic mountains, the Cévennes. The vineyards are moderated by the cooling breezes from the sea, giving the grapes a long, even growing season. This delicious creation merits a spotlight. It's a perfectly proportioned wine that takes an appellation (St. Chinian) to its full potential. Oak aged 1 year. Brilliant garnet color, deep blackberry aroma. Loaded with black cherry & cassis-like fruit. Round & harmonious, it is utterly satisfying from start to finish. Drink now or age up to 10 yrs.A.O.C. Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Guy Chaumont -- Guy Chaumont produces wines from vineyards on the Côte Chalonnaise, a low ridge in the southern part of France’s famous Burgundy region. Côte Chalonnaise now merits its own appellation to distinguish these wines from other Burgundys. Its reds are renowned for ripe fruit and drinkability compared to more tannic and concentrated reds from the areas further north around Beaune. The Chaumont eight acre estate is quite small, like many local vineyards. Guy took over seventeen years ago from his father, who had converted to organic growing ten years earlier out of concern for the family’s health. Their vineyard is certified organic by Ecocert, one of the French certifying agencies. Grapes are fertilized and protected from pests naturally, without synthetic chemical sprays.Smooth, fruity and aromatic. Aged in new & old oak after pressing. Full of the ripe berry flavor of Pinot Noir. It will age gracefully and is excellent with meat, cheeses and hearty casseroles.AOC Bourgogne; 100% Pinot NoirAlcohol . . .

Pinot Noir
Richmond Plains -- The Holmes family vineyard has been tended organically since its inception in 1991. The region’s cool climate, with long summer days and cold, crisp winters combine to create ideal grape growing conditions. Together with a commitment to organic methods, these conditions have resulted in elegant white wines and well-structured and balanced medium bodied reds. The 2004 Pinot Noir is indeed dark and concentrated. Ripe fruit and ample mouth feel. A worthy endeavor by our Southern Hemisphere brethren!Nelson100% Pinot Noir Alcohol Content: 13% AGING POTENTIAL : 6 to 8 years

Bordeaux
Château Moulin de Peyronin
Cuvée Capucine -- Bordeaux produces some of the finest red wines in the world. This classic red wine comes from the commune of Pujols, in the eastern part of Bordeaux. Françoise Frelin is a central figure in French organic viticulture. Her family has owned Château du Moulin de Peyronin since 1974, though they pioneered the sustainable agriculture movement as early as 1966 in their other vineyards. This wine is a blend from selected grapes aged in oak barrels for about a year. Madame Frelin, one of the fairly few women winemakers, oversees the maturing of her "baby" and the result is charming! The tannins are silky, the oak is discreet, the fruit is enhanced by the aging. Good job, Madam!

Champagne
Carte d’Or Brut
Serge Faust -- Serge Faust's Champagne is made from organically grown grapes in Vandières, on the Marne River in the Champagne district of France. Faust had his vineyard certified organic in 1969 after seeing slow deterioration in the soils and vines from the use of chemicals, and the detrimental effect chemical sprays had on natural yeasts, which help in the fermentation process. For over thirty years, Faust's thirty acres of vines have been nourished and protected only with natural elements. The result is a grape fully balanced with the sugar and acid necessary to produce a fine Champagne.Aged for three years to give this wine a rich, full aromas, creamy texture and mature fruit flavors. Made more complex by hints of yeast and nuts. This dry, full- bodied style of Champagne from mostly dark grapes is an excellent wine for hearty appetizers or a full dinner. AOC Champagne - Vandières (Marne) 70% Pinot Meunier, 25% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir
